Need Some Motivation to Hit the Gym?
What better way to stay motivated than by being with like-minded individuals led by the best trainers in the industry?
I’ve been where you are: one cheat meal turns into a cheat day, a cheat vacation, and then a cheat month. Getting back into a routine and hitting the gym can be tough. We might push ourselves for one day, feel great on endorphins, and then fall back into old habits. Need some fun with consistency? Enter the right place, surrender, and you’ll be in for a ride where everything is taken care of.
I’ve explored some fantastic fitness classes in Zone 1 London. If you’re thinking about trying some, this guide will be super helpful. Here are my top suggestions so far:
#1 Psycle – Shoreditch
My current favourite studio! The class I’m obsessed with is “Ride by Ed – Taylor Swift Special” every Tuesday at 7:30 pm. This class is pure therapy. Ed’s playlist is amazing, and he takes song suggestions from happy riders via Instagram. Imagine cardio set to Taylor Swift’s songs – it’s flawless. The studio dims the lights for “Cruel Summer” and the “All Too Well” bridge, where everyone sings along. It’s a class, concert, therapy session, and workout all in one. Plus, Psycle has great amenities and showers for after your workout.
Highly recommend their Ride, Reshape Upper Body & Abs, and Reshape Full Body & Abs classes. The studio feels like a club with its up-to-date machines and lights. The Reshape class mixes cardio and strength exercises, pushing your mental and physical limits. . I always leave the class feeling accomplished and the cold towels which they provide after the class is just the thing you need. They also have a smoothie bar with a great menu. Try their Rebel protein in chocolate and vanilla, available in vegan options too.
#3 Sweat by BXR – Bishopsgate
I attended their “Climb to the Beat” class on the 25th floor with fantastic city views. This cardio and strength class uses a unique electronic ladder, pushing you to climb to the beat of the music. My instructor, Yasmin Milne, was inspiring and supportive, making the class both challenging and fun. As the name suggests it was climbing to the beat of music with great lighting and use of the music was impeccable which guided you how fast or slow you had to do a set. The machine was electronic ladder like where one had to climb up the hill. My personal best was around 2850 ft. I would come back for the great views, and to give that much needed jerk to the body.
#4 Ten Health & Fitness
I have attended their beginner and intermediate reformer Pilate class. It is a fan favorite and always sold out in peak timings. I did not realize few strings had so much power. The instructors have been very friendly and accommodating for with all varied abilities. Instructions has been clear and easy to follow. Playlist is very upbeat for morning workouts. Reformer Pilates personally has been good for conditioning and strengthening but if someone’s goal is to ‘attain a certain goal’ I would recommend pairing the Pilates with cardio intensive workouts such as swimming, running etc. to see best results.
#5 Kobox – City
I tried their TRX class, which was out of my comfort zone but surprisingly fun. It wasn’t too technical and helped release tension and stress. The class included a mix of footwork and punches, following the beat and timer. It ended with bodyweight workouts using ropes. Don’t forget compulsory hand wraps under the gloves – can get own or buy at the studios
I’ve attended Rocket Yoga, Yoga with Meditation, Power Yoga, Yin Yoga, BLOK Sound, and Barre classes. Each session helps release stress and tension. Rocket Yoga burns more calories than a HIIT class, while Yin Yoga provides deep relaxation. I can vouch for this that you will leave this class as a whole new person than you entered. Expect to leave feeling energized and grounded.Yoga with meditation is so mindful and the breathwork with which instructor guides you, it could be some simple exercises that you may know off, but the aura of the room, the clean space, the candles, the music and the entire class chanting OM is just something else. The Yin yoga, I usually take this class on a Sunday to just unwind and stretch. I cannot recommend me this more to someone who just wants to clear their headspace or deeply relax.

#7 Barry’s – Shoreditch
Their Abs & Ass class is a fun, challenging session. Alternating between treadmill and strength training, it’s perfect for a quick 45-minute lunch workout. The clear instructions and pre-arranged weights make it easy to follow. The running at a high speed mixed with inclined running and braking for 3 sets chest press was not on my Tuesday lunch bingo list, but very much needed. I usually attend this class after a long break of not working out. But it is great for anyone to inculcate in their routine weekly for a challenging HIIT session.

#8 Recommend Gym Class Workouts
Gyms like Fitness First and Pure Gym offer studio classes like boxing, HIIT, yoga, floor Pilates, and spin classes. Booking through the gym app is easy and includes access to gym facilities. It’s an excellent option for learning the basics and getting accustomed to classes. You also get to be a part of community as they would be same people who are usually hitting the gym floor. So, for someone who does not want to push it hard on day one or financially invest on gym as well as classes, this is great option. This is a great motivation hack as there will be a group showing the same high energy as you and some amazing instructors navigating you through the classes.
Classpass
If the above list sounds expensive or you’re hesitant to commit to one studio, ClassPass lets you explore multiple studios with one membership. Use credits to book various classes and experience the best services and amenities. You can try various classes and decide on one studio that you liked the best and continue that separately or like me, have a fun routine. Mix up your routine with spin, strength training, boxing, and yoga.
Concluding, I’m still exploring and will update my list. These are my thoughts on studios, workouts, and community building. Consistency is key to good health, and moving your body regularly will yield results.
